![]() programme - Thursday 5 July 2012FLOATING STAGE: 8.45pm
![]() Diamond Jubilee Celebration starring Katherine Jenkins with special guest Nathan Pacheco She has travelled the globe, winning new fans and gold and platinum discs in every corner. She has turned 30, made her acting debut and become a TV favourite. No wonder she calls her new album Daydream. Recorded in London and Los Angeles, Daydream captures the ever-evolving range of Katherine's remarkable voice on songs from all ends of the musical spectrum - classical, choral, traditional, musical theatre and pop. Since moving to Warner Music three years ago, Katherine has spread her brand of classical crossover music around the world, picking up gold and platinum discs in various countries. She has also reached a whole new audience in the UK, including many younger fans coming on board for the first time, thanks to her appearances as a mentor in two series of ITV's Popstar To Operastar. Then there was that memorable role in last winter's Dr Who Christmas Special. That, together with Katherine's appearances on prime-time TV hits like The X Factor, Strictly Come Dancing and The Apprentice, has all helped change the perception of classical music and expand the audience for the crossover style pioneered by Katherine since her debut in 2004. BANDSTAND: 6.00pm
Oompah Brass They are a classically trained brass quintet, ( the Royal College of Music wins 3 to 2) For reasons nobody can remember, they started out in the clubs and pubs of London playing traditional Bavarian oompah music, as a way of paying off their student loans. THEN, 4 years ago, they decided to abandon this folly and began to arrange and play classic pop, soul and rock songs with an oompah beat and a Bavarian swing. The rest is history; they've since been described by one of their biggest fans, Chris Evans, as full blown "legends in Lederhosen" and Richard Bacon describes them as "a Rock and Roll Oompah band". SALON CLASSICAL: 7:00pm
